No longer is there a requirement to calibrate gas sensors underground.


In underground applications, traditional gas sensor calibrations pose challenges that require additional effort and resources.

  • High air velocities make gas calibration time consuming and difficult.
  • Transportation of gas calibration cylinders, regulators and tubing are required to service each location.
  • Dark, hot, noisy and dusty environment at time prevents proper filter cleaning.

A simpler way forward.

The EZ GasCal™ gas calibration station allows the mine to calibrate the Vigilante smart gas sensors on surface - in a clean, dry and wind free shop. Each gas sensor retains it's calibration in a non-volatile memory chip.

Surface calibrations can be done under a single controlled environment and then handed off to an electrician, shift boss, ventilation technician or surveyor to install into any Vigilante AQS™ air quality station.

A simple coarse threaded connection allows the existing gas sensors to be taken out and replaced with the newly serviced and calibrated sensor within 30 seconds. The used sensor is taken back to the gas calibration station for service and calibration.

Electrochemical and infrared gas sensors are pressure sensitive. The Vigilante AQS™ air quality station provides atmospheric pressure measurement and compensation to allow the gas sensors to be calibrated at a central location and installed in at any mine level up to 2 atmospheres pressure without sacrificing accuracy or reliability.
